VEDA HILLE

has been writing music, making records, and performing internationally since 1992. She is a classically trained pianist, art school drop-out, performance curator, self-taught singer, theatre interloper, and independent artist. She has released 21 albums, the latest batch being Love Waves (a collection of love songs written in Berlin, 2016) and cast recordings for Onegin (2017) and King Arthur's Night (2019). Onegin is a musical theatre adaptation of the Russian classic written with Amiel Gladstone (premiered 2016). King Arthur’s Night (Neworld Theatre) is a show by Niall McNeil and Marcus Youssef, with music by Veda. It features a mixed ability cast and a 16 person choir in a radical retelling of the King Arthur legend. Other recent theatre projects include music for The Bakkhai (Stratford) with book by Anne Carson, and Little Volcano (Theatre Replacement), a solo show featuring Veda playing songs and telling stories from her long life in music. Next Veda will be working on the 8th round of the beloved East Van Panto (Theatre Replacement) and writing a new musical with Amiel Gladstone. Little Volcano is set to tour internationally whenever that’s possible, but in the meantime the live album of the show was released in October 2020 (recorded at the Music On Main/PuSh premiere) and Veda will have many online performances throughout the next season. vedahille.com
